Who is vanopdorp.photography?
My name is Jacob VanOpdorp, and I am an outdoor and adventure photographer based in Denver, Colorado. I’ve always been drawn towards the camera, but didn’t find my true passion for photography until the first lockdown of the Covid-19 pandemic. I started taking photos with my old Sony A6000 around my neighborhood and found what I wanted to do as my career. After a few months of shooting I decided to switch from Sony to Canon.
I love to shoot all forms of photography, but prefer nature photography, which I consider to be landscapes, wildlife, and astrophotography. My biggest ambition as an adventure photographer is to work with travel agencies and outdoor brands to help them scale their business through social media, marketing, and communications.
One of my favorite parts about photography is that it allows me to visualize my progress. There are always improvements that can be made and so much that can be done to a single image. There are always different ways to edit the same photo in order to give it a different mood or feel. There will always be room for improvement in this career and that is what pushes me to keep shooting and practicing with new and challenging techniques.
